KOI is HMCo Number 941s, originally ordered on March 10, 1925 for the Warwick Country Club fleet by E. R. Towbridge and Charles M. Smith III. She was originally names AUNT EPPIE (all the Warwick boats were named after cartoon Characters).
This Fish sloop was originally built as a sloop rig. While the sloop rig will be delivered with the boat, KOI also has, and is currently set up for, the fish class gaff rig.
KOI underwent an extensive restoration at the International Yacht Restoration School (IYRS), and presents in excellent structural and cosmetic condition. The restoration at IYRS was managed by Warren Barker.
In recent years she has been under the care of Snediker Yacht Restoration, one of the finest Herreshoff-focussed firms in New England. her owner has given the Snediker team a mandate to keep this Fish, one of several Herreshoff's in his collection, in tip-top condition.
She need nothing but a nice breeze and an enthusiastic sailor at the helm. She will be delivered with both rigs, a Nat Wilson sail for the gaff rig in excellent condition, an almost new custom Triad Trailer, an electric bilge pump, battery, solar charger, and various accouterments.
Owning a vessel of this significance is often dependent upon the new owner being able to establish a relationship with a caretaking organization with the knowledge, skills and facilities to provide proper maintenance. Snedicker Yacht Restoration has indicated a willingness to continue caring for KOI should the new owner so desire.
KOI is on display on land at Dodson Boatyard in Stonington CT. Call to arrange a showing. This boat is highly recommended to anyone who values the opportunity to own an authentic Herreshoff Fish class vessel which is in excellent condition and ready for immediate use with no issues of any sort.
