"In a world of bling, Betty Hunt has grace. In a world of complexity, she’s simple. In a world of excess and overstatement, she’s practical and down-to-earth". SOUNDINGS, MAY, 2009

From the drawing board of Thomas Hale (long-time owner of Martha's Vineyard Shipyard, designer of the Wasque's and Vineyard Vixen's) come ETHYL (once BETTY HUNT) - launched as Tom's personal boat.  She is designed to be a simple, elegant and graceful power cruiser with everything you need and nothing you don't.

In today's world, this wise approach can help one remove the clutter of life, and as soon as one steps aboard and she sure does help you breathe a sigh of "ahhhh".  This is the kind of boat that just gets under your skin in the most positive way.

She has won awards, but she daily wins the admiration of the experienced boaters who run across her and know a good vessel when they see it. ETHYL is different, and not fast, but beautiful, interesting and well behaved.  What more could one want?

Available for inspection at your convenience in Mystic, CT.  Highly recommended.

VESSEL OVERVIEW

Isn't she lovely? The photos tell as good a story as any, until one get's aboard and experiences ETHYL in person.  Then the magic of this fine vessel will be very apparent.

The layout is excellent - both in the cockpit/helmdeck and in the interior.  Not only is ETHYL an eye-catcher, but she works great for cruising, day trips and entertaining.  There is a lot to like about this vessel.

An article on this boat was published in Soundings in 2009 - here is a link:

An interesting note - she was designed in 1941, but not built until 2000.  There are more interesting details in the article.

Seller reports fuel consumption at 3 gallons per hour at 8 knots.  he has owned her since 2010 and she evidences excellent care.

NOTE:  Topsides, cabin house, decks, hardtop, and toe rails all re-painted by Snediker Yacht Restoration 11/2023.
