2007 Bruckmann 34e

Stonington, Connecticut

Bruckmann builds exquisite yachts designed by Mark Ellis and this Bruckmann 34e is no exception. She is unique - only one has been built to date - and represents an exceptional opportunity for the discerning yachts person.

This 34e is a single engine, bow thruster equipped vessel and as a result has great stability and maneuverability.  She is also less complicated than many of her twin engine competitors, with a very tidy engine room and fantastic access. Mark Ellis' Chine Flat design includes broad flat areas at the chine, which enhance the stability (further enhanced with the single engine low in the boat) and allow the boat to plane at low speeds.

Her finishes both on deck and below are typical Bruckmann - the interior features the finest varnished mahogany set against white bulkheads, with solid woods used throughout.  In the pilothouse, one finds varnished solid teak appointments, including a laid teak helm deck. Her hull and deck are fully awlgripped.  Gleaming varnished solid teak cap rails show off the sheer line and sit atop a bulwark that rises as one moves forward - just wonderful.

The interior has the feel of a larger boat and benefits from a layout which offers the essential elements with plenty of "elbow room", which adds to the sense of luxury.

INDIGO has benefitted from knowledgeable and caring owners who have maintained and upgraded her regularly.  You will find many recent upgrades and improvements that have added real value.  Read on for the details.

This is a rare opportunity to obtain a semi-custom single engine vessel with the finest pedigree of design and construction.  Call to make arrangements for inspection.

Mark Bruckmann and Mark Ellis have a long history of producing handsome and innovative yachts -- power and sail -- that bespeak classic yacht quality and style. The Bruckmann 34e is a sophisticated example of the combination of their well-founded views and talents.

The swept sheer, classic trunk cabin and windshield configuration, broad side decks and transom tumblehome are sure to appeal to the experienced eye.

The 34-footer is a hardtop express cruiser built on the successful broad chine flat hull form that Mark Ellis originated in 1994 in a 40 footer, that Bruckmann built. The broad chine flat format allows the boat to rise easily from displacement mode to full plane at 12 knots. This, combined with an entry and forward deadrise akin to a deep-V hull, and a skeg, makes for a very efficient and seakindly hull.

A single Yanmar 435 hp diesel makes for a cruising speed of 17-18 knots (EDITOR'S NOTE - higher cruise speeds have been observed) and a top speed of 24 knots. The beamy chine flat form also provides roll-damping stability that cannot be matched in a deep-V or in narrower boats, making the Bruckmann 34e an ideal platform for watching races or other day cruising duty.

The large bridge deck under the hard-top and aft cockpit have ample, comfortable seating. Below, a complete galley, formed in a large U-shape, makes entertaining easy. Excellent cruising comforts for a couple include a large stall shower and toilet room, and generous V-berths provide comfortable sleeping arrangements. Great stowage includes ample drawer and hanging space and overhead “aircraft” lockers.

As one would expect from Bruckmann, a yard that is acknowledged to be in the top rank of North American custom builders, the interior of the Bruckmann 34e shows meticulous joiner detail in traditional gloss-varnished mahogany against semi-gloss off white cabinetry.

State-of-the-art composite molding methods and foam cored construction. Carefully planned and executed mechanical and electrical systems ensure dependable performance. The standard specification of the Bruckmann 34e has a long list of best-quality equipment including bow thruster, Corian countertops and Vacuflush head.
