2016 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 50 DS

Mystic, Connecticut

$389,000

NOTE:  PRELIMINARY LISTING.  ADDITIONAL PHOTOS AND FULL DETAILS TO FOLLOW

SALT AIR is perhaps the finest example of the highly respected and desirable Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 50 DS (Deck Salon) you will find.  She is certainly one of the cleanest boats one will come across, no matter if you are looking at her exterior, interior, engine room, bilges, wherever - she is just fantastic.

She benefits from care at a fine boatyard known for their attention to detail and well above average capabilities, and she has been stored there both summer and winter since new.

Improvements include a new suite of Garmin electronics, fresh Awlgrip, bow thruster, upgraded 80hp Yanmar engine with just 260 hours, Cummins generator, air conditioning, a fitted Fairclough canvas cover and frame, custom fabricated stainless steel davits, upgraded mattresses and a full set of fitted bedding, and more!

She will be delivered to her new owners with much of the gear one would want for cruising, all manuals and full service records.

Highly recommended - call today for more information and to arrange an inspection.

Manufacturer Provided Description

Philippe Briand designed her high performance hull, while the Garroni Designers lent her an elegant style. Together, they have conceived the ideal sailboat to meet your every expectation : fluid lines, design and construction certified by the Bureau Veritas, a streamlined keel and appendices for excellent performance at sea, and the comfortable, modern interior of a new generation of Sun Odyssey.

You will appreciate the ease of handling this large seafaring sailboat. The three-part cockpit features twin steering wheels at the helm, an open-air saloon with comfortable bench seating for entertaining around a generously-sized cockpit table, and an additional lounge area for relaxing while underway. Large winches and a powerful electric windlass facilitate handling.

VESSEL OVERVIEW

INTERIOR:

SALT AIR has the preferred three cabin, two head layout, with the galley aft.

The interior is finished to a high level and shows close to new.  The woodwork enriches the feel of the cabinetry and the interior overall, and her especially bright interior is a true joy - unlike some boats that feel like caves.  Being a deck salon model, SALT AIR has exceptional natural light and excellent outdoor vistas - enhanced by large cabin side windows, hull side ports, and numerous deck hatches.  All ports and hatches have shades for when it is desirable to have some privacy, or perhaps darkness for sleeping.

Ventilation is also excellent, and the interior benefits from air conditioning and reverse cycle heat.  Of course there is a generator, in a sound shield, and wisely positioned at the back of the boat away from the living quarters.  This allows climate control under way or on the anchor when desired.

The three cabins are all quite commodious, with the primary cabin forward.

The forward cabin features a large centerline berth with excellent access from both sides.  There is great storage in lockers, shavers and drawers.  The en-suite head has a folding plexiglass door to isolate the shower area.  The toilets in both heads are Jabsco electric flush, and have been converted to flush using fresh water - a seemingly small detail but it does certainly make a difference in eliminating head odor (and there is none on SALT AIR). There is also a 24" Samsung flat panel TV in this cabin.

The salon is set up with a Large u-shaped settee to starboard, with a very nice dining table. The dining table can be lowered to convert this area into a double berth. To port is another settee forward, and another table aft that acts as an end table and which flows into the nav station.  The nav station has a forward facing seat, and has the electrical control panels and VHF adjacent to it.

There is storage in the nav table, and the forward section (the end table portion) opens to reveal a very nice liquor bottle and glassware storage area. There are excellent lockers above the settees, and there is significant dry storage under the salon floor.

Large hull side port lights, large deck port lights, large side windows and deck hatches make the salon light, bright and welcoming.

The current owner upgraded the flat panel TV on the main bulkhead to a Samsung Frame panel - and it is stunning.  These are designed to present artworks on the screen when not being used for television or video.  It's quite nice. The sound is provided through a recently instated Fusion stereo and Bose speakers.

The galley, located aft to starboard, is large and very user friendly.  There are excellent sold surface ("corian") counters, a double stainless sink, a dedicated trash locker, a fridge with both top and front access, a separate top-loading freezer, and a lovely three burner propane stove with oven - stainless steel, by ENO.  A microwave has its own cabinet.  Dish storage, flatware drawer, pantry capacity, etc - all great.

Aft of the galley is one of the two large aft cabins.  They have nice ventilation, and good light.  This starboard cabin has a filler piece which can be removed if so desired to sleep closer to two singes than a double.  It also has a clever drop down dressing table.

The port aft stateroom is similar with a large double and ample storage.  This cabin has direct access to the aft head.

The aft head, just forward of the port aft cabin, is in the right part of the boat for use as a day head while underway.  There is a door for access from the aft cabin, and another for for acce from the salon.  It is a large head and has the same electric, fresh water flush toilet as is found in the forward head.

There are custom fitted sheets and new comforters, etc for all three cabins.

The engine is located under the companionway, and access is unusually good.  The stairs open, as one would expect, and there are side access panels both port and starboard.  In addition, there is access to the engine room from each aft cabin, providing an easy reach to the back of the engine and the transmission.

The Cockpit is huge and super comfortable - with full cockpit cushions including backrests in the lounge area.  On the centerline is a large table with two drop leaves, and storage bin the center.  There are areas both protected and starboard at the forward end of the cockpit which act like chaise lounges - what a great place to read, or relax with a beverage and watch the world go by. A large cockpit locker provides storage on the port side.

The two helm positions are next aft, with leather covered wheels, compasses port and starboard, Garmin sailing instruments  at each helm, and a chartplotter in the middle at the aft end of the table. The port helm has the single lever engine control, the engine panel, the bow thruster control, the Garmin autopilot control.  Behind the helms are dedicated helm seats with cushions.  Each helm is adjacent to the primary winches, which are electric.

The entire cockpit is protected by a fantastic dodger with stainless steel frame and polycarbonate windows (essentially like looking through glass).  The dodger extends into a full Bimini, ,and there is a removable connecting piece between the dodger and the Bimini.  The Bimini has two sail trimming see- through panels with velcro covers.

Just aft of the helm seats are deep storage lockers both port and starboard.  There is also another locker in the cockpit sole. The propane locker is to starboard in the aft quarter.  The propane is controlled by a remote solenoid with a switch located in the galley.

The "sugar scoop" transom is super functional, with several steps down to the swim deck.  There is a stainess steel hinged swim ladder and a hot and cold shower.  There is a storage locker under the cockpit sole for a liferaft.  There is also an exceptional custom stainless steel davit system - very nice and very useful. The backstay is split, so movement to and from the cockpit from the transom is easy.

The decks are wide and clean.  All the way forward is a gigantic sail locker with a ladder for access.  Forward of that locker is the anchoring system, with a double Stainess Steel anchor roller, Lewmar electric vertical windlass with both a capstan and chain gypsy, and an opening panel for access to the chain and rode.
