OVERVIEW:
The Swan 48 is a luxurious vessel with an expansive cockpit, open, unobstructed decks, and a stunning interior.
The cockpit is huge - bring all your friends! There are two helm positions aft, with a large aft deck area aft and between them. There are pop-up deck areas to create foot holds while sailing. All sail handling controls are led to the winches which are adjacent to the helms.
Under the aft section of the cockpit is a large "garage", accessible either from deck, or via the large opening transom. Once opened, the transom acts as a large swim deck. This garage is large enough to store a dinghy and many other items as well.
The main portion of the cockpit has port and starboard bench seats, with a large centerline table with drop leaves. The cockpit sole and seating surfaces are teak, as are the side decks. The forward section is protected by a lovely dodger. If desired, this dodger can be stowed into a recessed area, from side to side wrapping around the companionway. Even the companionway s clever - the companionway "board" drops into a recess - no more lifting them out and finding a place to store them.
There is a large still locker forward, and an exceptional centerline anchor storage system, below the bow sprit. This provides the best possible lead for the anchor without fouling the sprit. There is also a centerline wash down outlet below the anchor roller for washing the ground tackle as it is retrieved.
Down below is spectacular, The light Scandinavian wood interior is gorgeous. And talk about comfort! The cabins are generous, and the salon is huge. There is even room for the two Nautor captain' chairs, which can be used at the salon table (note - the chairs have never ben used). A large u-shaped settee surrounds the table. To starboard are two seats with a table between them.. This area acts as the nav station as well, and all electrical controls are adjacent to the forward seat.
This salon is super bright when desired - hull ports, overhead portiights and hatches - and designer lighting all contribute to the feeling of spaciousness and comfort. Bilge access is excellent, and the bilge is super dry and clean, and features an Arid bilge vacuum/drying system.
Going forward, the primary stateroom has a wonderful center line berth. There is great light here, too, especially with the optional hull ports. The head is large, private to the forward cabin, and includes a separate stall shower. There is excellent storage throughout.
Aft of the salon, to port, one finds the smart galley with aa very functional layout for use both at rest and underway. The stainless sinks are near the centerline, as one would expect. There is a stainless fridge and freezer, stove with oven, microwave, and many lockers.
Aft of the galley is a large aft cabin with a double berth, lockers, ventilation and light (including another optional hull port). This is a very nice cabin for guests - I would be shocked if anyone complained when assigned to this cabin!
To starboard of the companionway is another aft cabin. This one has two single berths which can be converted to a double with the filler pieces. These singes are quite useful ion many situation, making this cabin arrangement very practical. This cabin has it's own access to the aft head, which is just forward.
The aft head also acts as the day head. It is aft of the salon and forward of the aft cabin. There is an entry directly from the base of the companionway, so this is a great head for uses while sailing and acts as the "day head" under all conditions. It also has a door to the aft cabin, and a separate shower stall.
