Vessel Description

INTRODUCTION:

WIKI WIKI is a keel/centerboard, aft-cockpit, tall mast stoway Sou'wester 51.  She has an air conditioned 2-sleeping cabin, 2-head, gloss varnished ash accommodation plan that includes a full-width main salon, galley, and navigation station.

HULL:

Construction:

The hull is made of hand laid fiberglass and the deck is of cored construction, for additional strength per weight.

  • Cored Airex hull.
  • The deck is molded with 6" flange molded into the hull, fiberglassed and then bolted to form a permanent hull to deck joint.
  • Hull stringers and longitudinal stiffeners are bonded to the hull and integrated with the mast step and engine mounts.

VESSEL WALKTHROUGH:

From the companionway steps to starboard is Galley while the Nav Station is opposite to port and a washer/dryer forward of the head.  Next forward is the full-width Main Salon.  To port is an L-shaped dinette with a pilot berth over outboard. Starboard is a curved settee with lockers over outboard.  

Next forward to starboard is a Guest Head accessed from the main cabin.  Forward of this Head is a Guest Cabin with double berth and seat between, bureau, locker and hanging locker storage and an opening hatch overhead.

The Master Suite is opposite to port through a pocket door entry. There is a double berth with drawers under, a seat aft, lockers and a large hanging locker and forward entry to the ensuite Master head.  This head includes a sink, toilet, and separate shower with seat and more storage. 

Next forward is the large forepeak storage area entered by ladder through a large deck hatch. The partitioned forward forepeak includes a chain/rope and anchor locker.

 

GALLEY (Aft Starboard):

A bulkhead separates the Galley from the forward Main Salon.

The Galley is U-shaped with varnished ash cabinetry and a Frost 2000X corian countertop.  Outboard is the 3-burner stove and aft Grunert AR-50 refrigeration offering a large work surface. Forward is double sink inboard.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:

Separate heavy-duty 12 volt DC electrical system with separate lighting and starting batteries. All circuits are protected with circuit breakers in a master control panel located in the nav station.  All circuits, major mechanical components and rigging are bonded with heavy copper strapping that is grounded to the keel.

  • Engine starting system is by a 12-volt D-8 gel-cell battery and 53-amp alternator.  2nd generator on shaft
  • House:  (6) 6-volt gel-cell lighting batteries in series/parallel for a total of 725 amp/hrs charged by 100-amp alternator with solid-state regulator on engine.
  • Master cut-off switch and emergency battery starting capabilities.

220/110-volt shore power has a Heart 50/60-cycle battery charger with (3) 110-volt outlets and circuit breaker panel.
