1991 Hinckley Sou’wester 42

Southwest Harbor, Maine

$295,000

WHITE WING II was built by an experienced sailor. She has been immaculately maintained and continuously upgraded by her two owners.  She is thoughtfully laid out with a unique combination of features that make her equally capable of easy daysailing or extended cruising. Her current owner has circumnavigated Newfoundland on her and also often takes her out for a daysail by himself.  WHITE WING II is set up to be single handed from the cockpit and can be off the dock and sailing in minutes.  Her extensive inventory includes a carbon fiber spar with in mast furling, a balanced spade rudder, new Raymarine electronics and much more.  Sailed in New England by her current owner of almost 20 years and stored inside heated every winter she is in excellent condition and is currently out of the water at Hinckley Yachts Services getting ready for her next season.

VESSEL WALKTHROUGH

CONSTRUCTION:

Hull is constructed from a hand laid laminate of blister resistant vinylester resin reinforced with a knit hybrid fabric of Kevlar/E-glass. A foam core is vacuum bagged into the laminate to provide the greatest degree of stiffness and thermal/acoustic insulation possible. This core is removed and additional layers of fiberglass are added in stress areas such as hull/deck connecting flange, centerline, keel, chainplates, rudder post, and all thru-hull fittings. A fiberglass hull stringer system is bonded to the hull and integrated with the mast step and engine mounts to form a single unit that is strong and light. Marelon ball-valve type seacocks are installed flush with hull.

Molded external lead keel (provides protection in the event of grounding) is secured to the hull with 1" stainless steel bolts.  The Centerboard is raised and lowered with a low stretch line that leads to a winch in the cockpit.  Guard rail at sheer is varnished on top and Awlgripped on the bottom and has stainless steel half oval.

The Deck is a one piece fiberglass molding which incorporates a hybrid knit fabric of Kevlar/E-glass to reduce weight and a core of cross-linked close celled PVC foam. The core is deleted and replaced with solid layers of reinforcing fiberglass in the way of major penetrations and stress areas. The 5 1/2" hull deck flange is laid up to receive the deck, and they are bonded together to assure a strong, permanent, water tight hull/deck joint.
