2008 Alerion Express 38

Manchester, Massachusetts

Amazing Grace” has been transformed from a factory Alerion 38 into a very fast and stable sport boat.  She can still be single-handed and cruised, but now she sails very fast  and can be raced successfully against stiff competition.  She used to be sluggish in light air, but no more.  She has been custom-fitted with a Jim Taylor designed keel that is lighter and deeper.  This provides greater stability and acceleration.  Also, she sports a larger (flat-top) mainsail and a larger jib (112%) that does not use the Hoyt jib boom, both custom-designed in Doyle Ice Stratis (ultra high molecular weight Polyethylene) fabric.  These sails add speed, particularly in light air.  Also, she has been fitted with a barber-haul mechanism that enables her to point much higher than other boats.  Also, she has been modified to fly a spinnaker, and these modifications include two additional winches, an adjustable bow sprit, and a spinnaker pole (which is also very useful in going down wind with the new larger jib).  She has a full complement of electronic navigational aids, including GPS, radar, and auto-pilot.  She is in excellent condition, having been well-maintained from initial purchase.  The alloy shrouds were replaced in 2018.  The batteries and some of the electronic equipment was replaced in 2016.  The exterior varnish has been stripped and sanded recently.  Winter storage (Fairclough cover) has been paid for the 2018-19 season.  She is beautiful.  Come see for yourself.

....A proven performer in both PHRF and ORR....
